Remar’s rehabilitation program is not a clinical based program like most other rehabilitation options available. Instead, our program runs as a therapeutic christian community where individuals live, interact and work together through their issues. To achieve this, residents engage in a practical program where they work and develop new hard skills while also participating in daily morning devotions, prayer meetings and group bible studies. Living in community allows residents to intensify the life experiences that help them understand who they are, how they relate to others and learn to manage the triggers that lead them to substance abuse.
Through their practical work duties, residents learn to adhere to routines and develop a sense of discipline, both of which are necessary for integrating back into society. Individuals who have been stuck in the same cycle of addiction for several years often struggle to stick to schedules and commitments, two things which are imperative to life outside, and as such need to relearn how to become dependable and responsible persons who are able to function and thrive once back in the work force. While in the program, residents can expect to engage in work activities including but not limited to:
In our devotions and group bible studies, residents explore and discuss christian principles and learn how to implement them in their lives to help them break free from their addictions. During these sessions, individuals learn about patience, self control, how to be a man of integrity and most importantly, how to deal with stress, conflict and triggering situations that can lead them to relapse. The combination of these physical, emotional and spiritual lessons helps to create a positive framework that helps participants to change their old patterns of behaviour and teaches them how to successfully live their lives free from addiction.
